  • Moon Mountain Lodge Solitaire in Namibia

Between Solitaire & Sossusvlei, the entrance to Namib-Naukluft National Park is another 55km from the Lodge. Perfect scenery for a spectacular sunset. (twice.)

I stayed in an “Executive Suite” which featured a sun deck, private pool and a bathroom that was separated from the bedroom which meant having to go outside during the night. Perhaps that’s not something I would recommend, but other than that, definitely consider this place for your trip to Namibia.

  • The St. Regis Langkawi Kayu Puti Restaurant

In November, we stayed 4 nights at The St. Regis Langkawi & had booked our stay through the Luxury Privileges program which came with some valuable benefits such as complimentary breakfast, daily half board (choice between lunch or dinner), round trip luxury limousine transfer, food & beverage or spa service credit, …

Our stay as a whole was spectacular, although it’s still a fairly new property – we had a wonderful time here. We dined at L’Orangerie once & three times at Kayu Puti, not that L’Orangerie wasn’t great, but Kayu Puti was exceptional. Special thanks to Jan & Hafiz.

During our last night at the […]

  • The St. Regis Singapore

The St. Regis Singapore is conveniently located on Tanglin Road, right around the corner from Orchard Road & nearby ION Orchard Shopping Mall – and many others.

Having visited mulitple metropolises in the South East Asian Region, Singapore remained a blank spot on my travel map. I had heared many things about the city, good & bad, so that I absolutely had to do add it to the trip for my 30th birthday. After having spent 5 days on Langkawi, including four nights at the fantastic The St. Regis Langkawi, we concluded this trip with a short stay at The St.Regis Singapore.

    Well […]

  • Swiss CSeries CS100 pictures – Brussels to Zurich

If you passed by gate A45 at Brussels Airport on Sunday August 21st, you may have noticed that some festivities were taking place, which included cake, cava & a speech. And a brand new plane.

Swiss was showing off their new Bombardier CSeries (CS100) and I was on flight LX787 from Brussels to Zurich.

Although it was supposed to be the first visit of the aircraft to Brussels Airport, it had already been there a few days prior because of a technical issue with another aircraft. Nevertheless, cake, hand shaking, ribbon cutting & bubbly were in order to celebrate this occasion.

For Swiss, the Bombardier C Series […]

  • Review: St. Regis Shenzhen – Caroline Astor Suite

After my one night stay at the The Westin Shenzhen Nashan – foodcoma included – I packed my bag and headed to the St. Regis Shenzhen.  I took the subway which took approximately 30min to get to the St. Regis. Perhaps not the most glamorous of arrivals at a 5-star hotel but both hotels are just so conveniently located next to a subway.

The St. Regis Shenzhen  is adjacent to the KK MALL and only a few hundred meters from the entrance of Lizhu Park & Lihu Lake – which made for a nice walk in the park on a sunny afternoon.

    The room rate […]

  • Review: The Westin Shenzhen Nanshan Luxury Suite

I recently visited Shenzhen (China), a destination that wasn’t on top of my list of “places to visit” but The SPG Traveler kept raving about both the Westin & St. Regis, so I decided it was worth making a little detour from Hong Kong.

To visit Shenzhen, you don’t have to get a visa in advance for China, all you need is a “5 day Shenzhen visa” which you can easily get after clearing immigration at the Hong Kong – China border (Lo Wu station) and it costs 168 CNY (~€22).

Read more about the 5 days Shenzhen visa – including walkthrough & pictures
Do keep in mind that you […]

  • Lufthansa First Class A380

Coming back from Hong Kong, I flew Lufthansa’s A380 in First Class to Frankfurt, originally I was booked on the flight to Munich (which isn’t operated by an A380) however I changed my original booking the day before departure so that I could experience the A380 once again.

My personal favourite was Lufthansa’s 747-400 where the First Class Cabin was on the upperdeck and featured a seat & separate bed, but that configuration is long gone.

Perfect flight & fantastic crew, the generous portion of Caviar was much appreciated 🙂

  • InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa

Probably one of the most “aspirational” destinations out there: French Polynesia. Your gateway to magical Moorea, Bora Bora and other islands with 50 shades of blue & green, is Tahiti.

The InterContinental Tahiti is located in Papeete, not far from the airport and serves as an excellent base to explore the island.

I rented a scooter and headed South along the West coast of the island, if you have some time to spend – make sure you include a visit to Teahupo’o, a village almost on the other side of the island where you can see waves up to 7 (!) meters! Not impressed […]
