• Qatar Airways catering: difference between First Class & Business class

In May I flew Qatar Airways First Class on the A380 and was unfortunately quite disappointed by the whole experience, in particular by the crew, privacy of the seat and the catering on board. When we deplaned in Paris, I was even a bit hungry which is rather remarkable after a First Class flight, something that normally tends to be a feast in the skies.

I mentioned in the review that I would be flying Qatar Airways Business Class again later this year, which happened to be last week. Their Business Class is absolutely fantastic in terms of value for money: stunning Al Mourjan lounge in Doha, the […]

  • Qantas A330 NEW Business Class review

As previously explained, on the return from my trip to Tahiti, Moorea & Bora Bora I chose to fly Melbourne to Singapore, giving me a chance to try Qantas’ new Business Class seat on the A330, which they began introducing at the end of 2014 on domestic routes and later also on international ones. The A330’s are being progressively retro-fitted with the new seats, my flight from Perth to Melbourne two weeks prior still featured their old business class product, which is a recliner seat and similar to the business class seat on Turkish Airlines A320.

It is quite clear that the new seat is a gigantic step up from […]

  • Airlines & baggage – lost, damaged or delayed

Travelling with no checked luggage, carry-on only, means less hassle, no need to worry about bag drop-off timings, being able to proceed to the gate immediately and no waiting after landing. But sometimes it is convenient or necessary to check a bag.

Unfortunately my checked bag on a recent Air New Zealand flight was badly damaged and could not be used again, so I proceeded to the dedicated bag service desk located in the baggage reclaim area. It was already midnight at the time, I explained the situation to the agent, mentioned that I had an onward flight at 7:30 and […]

  • Air Tahiti flights & multi-island pass

Discovering French Polynesia starts in Tahiti where Fa’a’ā International Airport is the only international gateway for flights entering the country, all other airports only have domestic flights scheduled.

Air Tahiti Nui operates flights to & from international destinations (Tokyo Narita, Los Angeles, Auckland …), however the airline linking the islands is Air Tahiti, offering flights to 46 islands in French Polynesia and also Rarotonga in the Cook Islands.

The network is as wide as Europe (!) and these islands are spread out over 5 archipelagos:

Society Archipelago (Bora Bora, Huahine, Maupiti, Moorea, Raiatea, Tahaa & Tahiti)
    Tuamoto Archipelago (Takaroa, Rangiroa, …)
    Tuamoto East & Gambier Archipelago
    Marquesan Archipelago (Hiva Oa, […]

  • Bora Bora, Moorea & Tahiti: favourite pictures

    Good evening from Bora Bora!

The scenery is absolutely amazing here. French Polynesia is by far the most beautiful & colourful destination I have ever visited. Perhaps it is even best described as “50 shades of blue & green”. Rays of sun can light up the entire lagoon so quickly that the water changes from baby blue to aquamarine to turquoise in a split second, it is different wherever you look. Green has never seen so many shades and can easily compete with lush tea plantations on Java.

You have to see it to believe it.

During the past 10 days, I’ve taken over 2.375 pictures and already shared some of […]

  • Australia & New Zealand to Tahiti using miles

This is the second part of the story about how I used miles to get from Europe to Tahiti, so feel free to catch up on the first part which already brought me to Australia & New Zealand.

Personally I prefer to use miles for flights in premium cabins and although I have always said that you absolutely should not use your Miles & More miles for flights in economy, there are however a few exceptions.

None of them are for travel within Europe, because of the insane amount of taxes you need to pay in addition to using your miles.

    However, travel […]

  • Cheap flights to Romania! Blue Air 14,99% discount!

Blue Air, a Romanian low-cost airline, is having a sale where they are offering 14,99% discount on all Blue Air flights, including new routes.

Blue Air serves several airports in Europe including Brussels, Köln, Stuttgart, Birmingham, Luton, etc. But not Amsterdam, quite surprisingly. You can check the routes between airports here

From Belgium the only airlines operating direct flights to Bucharest Airport (OTP) are Ryanair (Brussels Charleroi), TAROM (Zaventem) and Blue Air (Zaventem). Brussels Airlines does not serve the destination.

So the current sale is a good idea if you’re planning to visit Bucharest, Bacau or Iasi and don’t want to depart from Brussels Charleroi (then […]
