Stair Climbing for UNICEF at Sheraton Brussels
On Sunday November 29th 2015, Sheraton Brussels will organize, in collaboration with UNICEF, the 5th edition of “Stair Climbing” and you can join!
To reach the top of one of the tallest buildings in Brussels, participants (=you!) will have to climb 466 steps (30 floors) which will take approximately 5 minutes.
Runners will start one-by-one on in ad random sequence between 9:30 & 12:00.
After the event, there’s also a Road to Awareness Lunch starting around 12h15 which is €8 per adult and €5 per child under 12 y.o.
Tom Waes (Reizen Waes, Wauters vs Waes, …), ambassador for UNICEF Belgium, will also compete in the event. (Tom doesn’t just participate, he always wants to win 🙂 )
For the first time, children (up to 12 yo) can also help support the good cause and climb 114 steps (7 floors) and they start at 9:00.
To enter, you are requested to pay a €18 fee (advance registration) or € 20 on the day. All funds will go directly to “Road to Awareness” which is the partnership between UNICEF and Starwood Hotels associates.
With the funds they aim to provide clean & proper water, sanitation and hygiene facilities for children and families across Africa and the Middle East.
More about the projects/partnership can be found on www.roadtoawareness.com
The fastest adult male & female participant will be crowned “The King and The Queen of the Sheraton Brussels for a Year” , meaning that each month for one year from December 2015, they can choose between
- one free weekend night (one Friday, Saturday or Sunday night; room-only and based upon availability) at the Sheraton Brussels Hotel for maximum two people
- receive 1000 free SPG Points ( www.spg.com)
Every participant of the Children’s Racewill receive a prize and there will also be a special prize for the fastest kid participant.
There will also be a prize for the “most original” runner, and in addition a number of other great prizes will be drawn from a list of ALL participants of the Stair Climb.

I think this is absolutely a fantastic event and it’s a win-win situation for everyone: funds are being raised for the “Road to Awareness” project, you could win some cool prizes (do King & Queen have to share the weekend night? 🙂 ), it’s a fun day and you get a chance to beat Tom Waes.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend this time as I’ll be travelling, but if they repeat the cycling for Road to Awareness next year…
So what are you waiting for?
