UPDATE April 2nd 2016: Winners posted below
I’ve been to Paris many times already and it has become an annual trip because it’s so easy to reach from Belgium by train. I enjoy wandering around the city, visiting some museums, relaxing in Jardin des Tuileries or if there’s a special occasion I might even have a glass of champagne.

If you’re looking for a place to stay, the InterContinental Paris Le Grand is worth considering but there are of course many other hotels to choose from.

    For the “full” […]

  • What is the best OTA website to book your hotels?

Some of my finest travel moments I’ve experienced thanks to loyalty programs, so I’m a big advocate of booking on the hotel’s website or “” websites such as,,, etc. because it enables you to earn a lot of points that you can use towards free nights & receive status benefits such as complimentary breakfast & room upgrades.

Read more about which hotel loyalty programs you should join – even if you’re not a frequent traveller.

But what if you’re not staying at Sheraton, Crowne Plaza, Hyatt or JW Marriott hotels? Should you book directly with the hotel?
Check the hotel’s website & competing websites

  • 10 Reasons to visit Cape Town

While I’ve already been to many places, Cape Town is still one of my favourite destinations in the world and I’ve made a list of top 10 reasons why you should visit Cape Town asap and added some things to do!

I visited the “Mother City” and its surroundings in January & February 2014 and again in January 2016 and I simply #LoveCapeTown.

To enjoy a trip to the fullest, I really recommend renting a car which will cost you only €15/day. Just don’t use Woodford Car Hire.

In 2016 I’ll also be exploring some new & exciting destinations and I hope to […]

  • Review: Boutique Hotel Calatrava Palma de Mallorca

About a month ago, I wrote about a great opportunity to book round trip flights within Europe from €1! I jumped on the offer and booked trips to Valencia & Palma de Mallorca.

I decided to really mix things up and spent one night at Boutique Hotel Calatrava in Palma de Mallorca and another night at Iberostar Cristina in Playa de Palma, both hotels have completely different ‘target audiences’.

I actually didn’t know that much about Palma de Mallorca and I used TripAdvisor to tell me which hotels were worth staying at, which is also a different selection- & booking process than what I normally go through.

    Boutique […]

  • Tips & tricks for cheap business class & First class flights

The cost to transport a passenger compared to the price of a ticket can be completely irrelevant. An airline can sell tickets for €1 – €100 (and I’m not just talking Ryanair) while other tickets can cost +€5.000.
Fare pricing is rather complex and depend on factors such as market demand, available seats, ticket flexibility, willingness to pay more, etc.

Obviously every airline wants to make a profit, but not every ticket has the same price for the same product. The person sitting next to you, if you’ve followed my advice, will have paid more than you.

I’m going to give some examples and tips […]

  • Waterkloof restaurant degustation menu

After having booked my flights to Cape Town on a whim, the first thing I did was contact Waterkloof restaurant to check if it would still be possible to make a reservation for lunch.

I visited Cape Town two years ago and one of the highlights was the degustation menu at Waterkloof, located in Somerset West, only 45min by car from Cape Town V&A or 15min from Stellenbosch.

The region has quite an amazing food scene and all the popular restaurants require a reservation in advance, for which you need to call, email or tweet. Personally, I would appreciate an online booking […]

  • Review: Hilton Queenstown Hotel New Zealand

In 2015 I visited New Zealand and spent some time in Auckland, Taupo, Nelson, Kaikoura, Christchurch and finally Queenstown where I stayed a few days at the Hilton Queenstown. If you’ve read about some of the highlights of the country, you know that the drive from Christchurch to Queenstown, via Wanaka and the Crowne Range road is a must do.
Queenstown is located in the South of the South Island of New Zealand at Lake Wakatipu and quite a popular tourist destination because it’s a starting point for tours to Milford Sound. The city hosts a few chain hotels such as Sofitel, Crowne Plaza, Best […]
